The Kenya Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) can be requested up to 2 days before travel, but it is recommended to apply at least 10 days in advance to avoid unforseen issues and ensure timely approval. .
What do I need to apply for the eTA to Kenya?
To apply for the eTA for Kenya you must meet the following specific requirements:
Eligible Nationality: The eTA for Kenya is required for all nationalities worldwide, except for citizens of the EAC (East African Community) Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda, who can enter with just their national ID.
Passport: You must have a valid passport with a validity of at least 6 months after your intended date of entry to Kenya. It is crucial to have a scanned copy of your passport to attach during the application process.
Recent photograph: To include in your application, you must provide a recent color photograph of the applicant's face.
Travel itinerary: If you are entering the country by air or sea, you must upload both your entry and exit tickets. If you are entering through a land border, you will need to provide a travel itinerary.
Other documents: Depending on the purpose of your trip, you will be required to provide specific documentation.
Business: Company letter invitation
Visit family and friends: Invitation letter and ID of the host
Study: Proof of accommodation and Admission letter
Crewmember / Seaman: Proof of employment
Others, except transit: Prueba de alojamiento

The processing time for the eTA may vary depending on the accuracy of the information and documentation provided; eTA applications are typically processed within 24 hours; however, many receive a response sooner.

What is the cost of the eTA to Kenya?
The total cost of the eTA for Kenya is $113, which includes the government fee of $34 and a service fee of $79. This service fee covers application review, 24/7 support, and a simplified process to prevent errors and delays.
How long is the eTA for Kenya valid, and what is the permitted stay with it?
An approved eTA is valid for 90 days from the date of approval and you must entry the country within this period. It is valid for a single entry with the following exeption: if you travel to Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania or Uganda, you may re-enter Kenya using your eTA, as long as you have not exceeded 90 days since its approval.
United States citizens can apply for a multiple entry eTA valid for 5 years.
Being in possession of an approved eTA does not ensure your entry into the country, as the final decision on entry will always be made by border officials.
Can the eTA be extended?
The eTA cannot be extended. If your current authorization is about to expire or has already expired and you wish to enter Kenya, you must submit a new eTA application.

Is there a transit visa? Is it required for Kenya?
The eTA is the only document required to enter the country, including transit cases. Therefore, there is no specific transit visa; if you wish to leave the airport transit area during your stopover in Kenya, you must apply for an eTA. If you remain in the international transit area without leaving the airport, it is not necessary to obtain an eTA.

- If your application has been processed and confirmed, no changes can be made.
- If your application is still being processed, no changes can be made.
