How far in advance of my trip should I request the eVisa?

An eVisa to India can be requested up to 6 days before travel, but it is recommended to apply at least 15 days in advance to avoid unforeseen issues and ensure timely approval.


What do I need to apply for the eVisa to India?


To apply for an eVisa you must meet the following specific requirements depending on the type of eVisa:


  • Eligible nationality: You can apply for an eVisa if you rnationality is not listed below:

    AMERICA: Bermuda.

    AFRICA: Algeria, Burkina Faso, Central African Republic, Chad, Congo (Republic of), Democratic Republic of the Congo, Egypt, Ethiopia, Guinea-Bissau, Libya, Mauritania, Nigeria, São Tomé and Príncipe, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Tunisia.

    ASIA: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Lebanon, Maldives, Nepal, North Korea, Pakistan, Qatar, Syria, Turkmenistan, Yemen.

  • Passport: You must have a valid passport with a validity of at least 6 months after your intended date of entry to Angola. It is crucial to have a clear image of the biographic data page of the applicant's passport. It is the page that features all personal information (names, surnames, birth date, passport number, etc.) to attach during the application process.

  • Recent photograph: To include in your application, you must have a square photograph of the applicant taken within the last 6 months in the highest possible quality.

  • Business card: Clear image of the applicant's business card issued by their employer.

  • Invitation letter: Official document inviting the applicant to engage in specific activities within the country. It must be written and signed by the inviting organization/individual and include the applicant's name.

  • Political clearance from MEA and Event clearance from MHA of India: Document provided by the conference organizer to all participants.

Passport is requiered for all type of eVisa, and depending on the one you need, different documents are required:


- 30 day Tourist eVisa: Recent Photograph

- 1-year Tourist eVisa: Recent Photograph

- 5-year Tourist eVisa: Recent Photograph

- Business evisa: Recent Photograph, Invitation letter and Business card

- Medical eVisa: Recent Photograph and Letter from the hospital

- Medical Attendant eVisa: Recent Photograph

- Conference eVisa: Invitation letter, Political clearance from (MEA) of India and Event clearance from (MHA) of India

How long is an eVisa valid, and what is the permitted stay with it? 


The validity and permitted stay will depend on the type of visa:

  • 30 day Tourist eVisa: Valid for 30 days from the date of entry into the country. It allows two entries within a maximum stay period of 30 days 

  • 1-year Tourist eVisa: Valid for one year from the date of approval. It allows multiple entries, with each stay limited to a maximum of 180 days.

  • 5-year Tourist eVisa: Valid for five year from the date of approval. It allows multiple entries, with each stay limited to a maximum of 180 days.

  • Business evisa: Valid for one year from the date of approval. It allows multiple entries, with each stay limited to a maximum of 180 days.

  • Medical y Medical Attendant eVisa: Valid for 60 days from the date of approval. It allows three entries, with each stay limited to a maximum of 60 days.
  • Conference eVisa: Valid for 30 days from the date of entry into the country. It allows a single entry with a maximum stay of 30 days.



Can an eVisa be extended?


No, none of the eVisas can be extended. You will need to wait until the validity has been consumed, to apply for another eVisa



Is there a transit visa? is it required for India?


A transit visa is not required by a foreigner passing through, in direct transit by air, and travelling onward through India, provided he/she does not leave the specified precincts of the airport. A transit visa is not required by a foreigner who does not leave the ship while it halts at an Indian port.
If you need a transit visa to go through India, you will to contact your nearest embassy in order to obtain it.



I already have my eVisa to India, what should I do next?


Once you have received your authorization approved, the next steps will depend on your travel plans and the purpose of your trip. Below, we have outlined some of the usual steps:

  • Check your entry requirements. 
    Make sure you have all the necessary documents to enter the country, including your passport, flight tickets (both inbound and outbound) and any other document that can support your visit.


  • Travel plans
    Confirm your travel itinerary, including flight details, accommodation, and transportation within the country.

  • Currency and finances
    Consider your needs and plan accordingly, make sure you have sufficient funds for your stay. It is advisable to have some local currency for immediate expenses upon arrival. 

  • Contact information: 
    Keep the contact information of your accommodation, embassy or local consulate, and any emergency contacts readily available.

  • Travel insurance: 
    Consider taking out travel insurance to cover any unexpected event or emergency during your trip. 

  • Local traditions and laws: 
    Familiarize yourself with the traditions, laws, and cultural norms of the country to ensure a respectful and pleasant visit. 

  • Stay informed: 
    Stay informed about any updates or changes to travel advisories, entry requirements, as well as local conditions before your trip. 

Please note that any ETA does entitle you for guaranteed entry into India. Your entry can still be refused at the time of arrival. Following these steps will help ensure you have a peaceful and enjoyable trip.

  1. If your application has been processed and confirmed, no changes can be made.

  2. If your application is still being processed, no changes can be made.

  3. You will only be able to modify your application if you have pending documentation or data on your application form.
